Sutton Coldfield: 9 May, 2024 – It’s Happy Days for Sutton Coldfield-based marketing agency EDGE Creative after it was chosen to help a 24-strong nursery chain drive business growth with a new website to both enhance nursery location search function and provide a clear information portal for parents, a full brand review to ensure consistency and a logo refresh.

Happy Days nurseries, a chain operating across the Midlands, South West and Wales, providing day care for children from three months to five years old, was founded in 1991 with a nursery in Newquay. The company now has 24 nurseries and is actively seeking opportunities to expand – either through acquisition or building new nurseries. It plans to grow to 50 nursery sites in the next three to five years, as part of its continued growth plan and has created 54 new jobs in nursery sites launched during 2023. So far this year, it has appointed 18 new recruits and a further 22 vacancies are set to be created by further growth of these new sites.

Happy Days operates a unique ‘Where Children Shine’ curriculum, which is aligned with the seven education programmes defined in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and the Curriculum for Wales. It is this, combined with the wide and growing nursery location offering, that Happy Days wanted the new website and branding to reflect.

Karen D’Aguilar, Head of Sales & Marketing at Happy Days, said: “We chose EDGE Creative because of their experience working with national and international education and care sector businesses, so we knew they would have a strong understanding of our objectives and were best placed to help us achieve our wider business growth plans. When parents are looking for the right nursery for their pre-school children, they want to not only quickly find what they are looking for in their chosen area, but also to understand the ethos of that particular nursery and details about its educational programme. As our curriculum is unique and underpinned by four key pillars, we wanted that to be clearly communicated.”

Happy Days’ curriculum is driven by creating strong and confident communicators, inquisitive and ambitious thinkers, healthy and independent explorers, and resilient and motivated individuals. These were the four key elements the company wanted the brand to reflect and ones that are key to growth as a strong business differentiator.

EDGE also worked alongside the Happy Days in-house marketing team to help bridge skills gaps, providing Content Management System and analytics training to support the Happy Days marketing team in taking its marketing strategy to the next level, with the delivery of digital marketing masterclasses.

EDGE Creative Client Services Director Karen O’Donovan said: “We were delighted to win the pitch to help Happy Days achieve its business growth goals. Building a new bespoke website from the ground up, with a fresh look to match the brand identity, was a key task. The enhanced search functionality for parents was coupled with a campaign to increase company presence and discoverability through SEO – as well as provide a seamless experience for website users. As part of the brand refresh and website project, we organised a three-day photoshoot, to inform the basis of imagery moving forward on the website and in other marketing materials. We focused on collecting team images, venues and children – and had a lot of fun on our visits to the Salisbury, Penair, and Summercourt & Charlton Heights nursery locations!”

EDGE has previously provided marketing solutions education and care sector organisations including Aston Manor Academy, University College Birmingham (UCB), the Lisieux Trust, and A Wilderness Way.

The new Happy Days website is now live, and details about nursery locations, including the newly-launched nurseries, can be found here. Job opportunities are available right across the Happy Days nursery network, at a range of levels, click here for more information.
