A British cookware brand is asking all foodie Instagrammers, TikTokers and tastemakers across the Midlands to enter its national competition to be appointed as their media mogul, national food influencer and crowned Britain’s best home cook, with a prize fund of over £1,000 to boot.
Blackmoor the Liverpool-based cookware brand, is launching the first year of its national competition, titled Britain’s Home Cook Of The Year, in which it hopes to celebrate British home cooking, culinary talent and discover and appoint its new national media mogul and foodie expert.
Blackmoor, alongside this year’s competition sponsor Frylight, the UK’s original 1cal cooking oil spray, is asking those who reel, video and social media post about their culinary creations to enter or nominate someone they think deserves to win. The prize, alongside taking the title of Britain’s Home Cook, includes over £500 worth of cook and bakeware, an air fryer, a coffee machine, a year’s supply of Frylight, two tickets to the popular BBC Good Food show and more.
The competition launches on Monday 20th March and runs until Friday 21st April 2023 and is open to all eleven of the following British regions, Cymru Wales, East Midlands, East of England, London, North East & Cumbria, North West, Scotland, Southeast, South West, West Midlands, Yorkshire & the Humber.
“We are really excited about launching this new national competition,” said Simon Parker, Blackmoor’s cookware expert and head judge.
“We know the power of social media and so many of us now head there first for cookery inspiration, whether that’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or TikTok! We are looking for someone who is not only sharing their great-tasting recipes and dishes but showcasing them in the very best way through their expert broadcasting skills.
“Blackmoor is yet to have its own TikTok and this would be the winner’s first job, to help launch our channel with their own content – showcasing their home cooking prowess.
“We hope lots of cooks will get involved this year, the competition has no age limit, but we do ask for entrants to be over 18. We’ve made it as simple as possible to enter, as we want to see a flurry of recipes and heartfelt stories behind the nation’s love of home-cooked meals.”
The competition has two stages. Firstly, regional heats, in which 11 cooks will be awarded as the very best in their region, taking home a prize bundle worth over £100 including an array of Blackmoor cookware products and three bottles of Frylight, alongside a Frylight tote bag. Then to the national stage, where the 11 regional winners will go head-to-head to be crowned and appointed as Blackmoor’s new home cook expert and influencer.
Simon continued: “After filling in some quick and easy details to enter initially, including sharing why you love to cook and submitting your signature dish and recipe alongside some imagery or video, the judging panel will then get to work deciding who is the very best in their region.
“Once our regional winners have been revealed, they will then go head-to-head against each other by submitting a video of them cooking their said signature dish. Then it really is time to showcase their broadcasting and cooking skills. We just can’t wait to see what entries we get. The more creative the better. We want to see the true foodie flair that Britain has to offer!”
The judging panel is made up of cooking, baking, and cookware experts, as well as British nutritionist Kate Withington. The lucky winner will also bag a huge prize bundle worth over £1,000.
They will receive £500 worth of Blackmoor products and other exciting prizes including:
- Blackmoor eight-piece Blue Pro Pan Set
- Blackmoor three-piece Cast-Iron Set
