After deciding to retire, Clare Brookes, founder of Volkswagen Funerals and Morris Minor Funerals, has decided pass on her businesses to Mortons Funerals Hire, owned by Mortons Funeral Directors.
Clare Brookes and her wife, Michelle, have dedicated sixteen years to providing the best service to Funeral Directors and families in their time of need with Volkswagen Funerals and Morris Minor Funerals. They’ve continually provided compassion and support, as well as alternative hearses, for people who want to personalise their funeral transport.
Certainty for the future
Although Clare was retiring, she wanted to make sure that Volkswagen Funerals and Morris Minor Funerals were taken over by a company that could provide the same high quality and sensitive service, which is why she chose Mortons Funeral Directors, owned by father and daughter, Derek and Sarah Case.
“The team takes care of the smallest detail to make a big difference. Their professional care is second to none, and the innate family unity at the heart of the business makes me feel confident and reassured that they’re the perfect choice for Morris Minor Funerals and Volkswagen Funerals.”
At Mortons, ‘where saying goodbye means everything’, Derek and Sarah are dedicated to personalising their service to ensure each client’s individual needs are met, so the right style of funeral is chosen for their loved ones.
Funerals fit for future generations
“We’ve seen funerals change a lot in the last ten years or so,” says Sarah.
“Each person is unique, so their funerals should be too. Volkswagen Funerals and Morris Minor Funerals will help us to expand what we’ve been doing already. We’d already varied our fleet from the traditional black Jaguar to include silver Jaguar options, as well as a black Rolls Royce hearse & limousine for those who wanted something different.
“When we saw more and more requests for alternative vehicles, we acquired a Mini Classic Traveller, which we converted into a hearse, and ‘Bert’, as he is affectionately named, is an integral part of the fleet now. We’re so excited for ‘Hearseby’ and ‘Ernie’ from Volkswagen Funerals, and ‘Trudy’ and ‘Trevor’ from Morris Minor Funerals to join our family.”
The 1972 Bay Hearse, affectionately known as Hearseby, is one of three Volkswagen’s of his type in the world. It is also the only one known to be in operation, as a hearse, in the UK, offering a personalised choice for a loved one who might have been free spirited, loved the outdoors or enjoyed music festivals.
Trudy and Trevor from Morris Minor Funerals offer a truly British option that’s also environmentally friendly, as they have been recycled and rebuilt they generate less carbon footprint, compared to a new-build traditional hearse.
“We can’t wait to offer for hire our varied vehicles and provide them up and down the country. Funerals are changing, we’re excited to help the industry to continue to embrace that and provide families with high-quality funeral vehicles that reflect their life,” concludes Sarah.
