Ultrafilter Medical – the Ross-on-Wye manufacturer of Type IIR medical face masks for the health, care and processing industries – has formed a strategic alliance with the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), Hereford.
Under the terms of the alliance, Ultrafilter Medical will offer project work and work experience placements to students studying at NMITE. Ultrafilter Medical is owned by the same family which owns global engineering group Ultrafilter and, as a result, NMITE students will also have the opportunity to develop their engineering skills at one of its international sites.
Dean Kronsbein, founder and chairman of Ultrafilter Medical and owner of Ultrafilter Group, said: “When we decided to establish our UK business, we committed to creating much-needed employment and career opportunities for local people here in Ross-on-Wye.
“Research consistently shows that universities are key to the prosperity of a local area and we felt that was a natural synergy between our businesses and the ethos of NMITE, which is to develop the next generation of engineering leaders with the skills and vision they will need to solve global challenges locally.
“We’re excited to begin working with the students and look forward to helping them develop rewarding careers in the industry.”
Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, CEO and President of NMITE, added: “We’re delighted to form this alliance with Ultrafilter Medical, which will open up invaluable opportunities for our students.
“Many of the professional challenges our graduates will face over the course of their careers are global problems that require innovative, global solutions delivered at local level. This means working together to introduce a new model of engineering education that opens up the profession to new and different kinds of thinkers and practitioners with the potential to achieve great things.
“By partnering with Ultrafilter Medical, our students will have the opportunity not only to undertake practical projects and work experience on their doorstep but also to learn from one of the world leaders and innovators in the broader filtration market, including gaining valuable new perspectives through work placements and visits overseas.”
