Twenty local businesswomen can now call themselves best-selling authors, thanks to a chance comment at a networking meeting about writing a book.
Midlands based entrepreneurs from the Women’s Business Network founded by Tamworth based businesswoman Sharon Louca have contributed chapters to the Women’s Business Network Guide to Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur. The guide was published on Amazon last week, and achieved number 1 best-seller in the home based business category.
The entrepreneurs originally came together in March 2020 during the Covid pandemic, when Sharon had the idea to provide a weekly online meeting for fellow local businesswomen to air their concerns and support each other by sharing ideas for continuing to grow their successful businesses during the lockdown period.
Having survived the most difficult time in the history of their businesses, the women decided to carry on meeting once lockdown had ended and the Women’s Business Network Group was launched in July 2020.
Sharon Louca explains: “During one business networking meeting, when we were all sharing our knowledge and expertise, I flippantly suggested the idea of writing a book, and although it began in jest, it sparked a collective thought ‘Why not give it a try?’”
Sharon worked alongside writing mentor and fellow author, Shelley Wilson to co-ordinate the project. We wanted to provide a valuable resource for women new to business to help them learn from the mistakes we had made and to enable them to build strong foundations for their business venture. Whilst the book was originally aimed at start ups or new entrepreneurs the book offers valuable tips for women at any stage on their business journey. There is always something new to learn.
As well as a range of technical topics, from business plans to branding, accounting to AI (artificial intelligence) and strategies to social media, the book also covers emotional issues like mindset and self care. This book is unique as it shares business advice, stories and case studies of 20 different women who have been in business collectively for many decades.
Kat Byles author of Creative Happy Work says “My experience has been that for women to thrive they need both the practical and emotional support that this book and the Womens Business Network offers”.
The book went live on Amazon on Monday 16th October and The Womens Business Network celebrated the launch of their book at a local Meet the Author event in Kenilworth last Saturday 21st October where they exhibited alongside 24 other local authors.
