A game-changing new transport management system which is set to revolutionise the logistics sector is already turning heads since its launch six months ago.

CocoonOPS, from leading software solutions provider CocoonFMS® Ltd, helps freight forwarders streamline operations, cut costs, boost customer satisfaction and reduce their carbon footprint.

Four years in the making from logistics industry experts, the system has already won one major transport award and been shortlisted for another, developed further functionality, received all positive feedback and signed up 200 potential new clients.

James Blackman, CocoonFMS® Ltd managing partner, said: “Since the launch we’ve had nothing but good feedback, including the awards success, and interest from hundreds of potential new clients.

“The feedback from users confirms that our system is really intuitive and easy to use with little or no training. It can be set quickly, even with industry newcomers. It’s literally just plug in and play and doesn’t require intensive training.”

Awards success

CocoonFMS® Ltd has just been awarded Best Freight Forwarding Logistics Software Company in the 2024 UK Transport Awards and was shortlisted in the Excellence in Technology and Innovation category at the recent Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards.

The pioneering new system was designed by logistics experts with more than 60 years of combined experience who were frustrated with outdated and often counter-productive processes. They say even where more modern solutions exist, these still fail to address all the common challenges faced by freight forwarders.

James said: “This software is genuinely game-changing and we’re delighted that it’s already achieving recognition in the industry. Coming from a global transport firm, it was frustrating to see the lack of technological advancement and the industry’s ongoing dependency on spreadsheet systems.

“This cloud-based system offers the pioneering change the industry desperately needs and it’s great to see momentum is building as more freight forwarders and logistics businesses realise the benefits it has to offer.”

Cloud-based system offers raft of benefits for business

Key features of CocoonOPS include real-time tracking of shipments via air, sea, road and rail, demurrage and detention cost calculation and alerts, configurable workflows, automated tasks, document and quotation generation, status notification and messaging, customer portal/foreign agents portal and an API marketplace for integration with commonly used systems.

It also has a built in carbon calculator which allows businesses to measure the emissions associated with a shipment and buy carbon credits directly through CocoonOPS to offset remaining emissions.

Because the system is cloud-based, users can be set up in a matter of days with easy integration of existing systems. It can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection without delays caused by complex in-house processes or hardware issues.

New features

It has been further developed with additional features including:
• Forex – Foreign Exchange Rates for both buying and selling
• Invoice management to raise and manage invoices within the system
• Quotation management – which can automatically create jobs with revenue and costs attached
• Carbon emissions reporting per shipment leg
• Integration directly with Xero via API

All of these are designed to help small freight forwarders significantly improve client relationship management.

Businesses interested in the system are invited to book a demonstration now so they can see how it works, or visit the CocoonFMS® Ltd stand at the Multimodal exhibition at the NEC this June.
