Midland Fire Security Services Ltd is delighted to have completed the first year of a four-year contract with Nottingham City Council Housing Ltd to secure and protect its property portfolio for the future.

The four-year contract also supports Nottingham City Council’s Modernising Housing For Independent Living (MHIL) property development and refurbishment project, covering all life safety systems, including Fire Alarm Systems and mechanical services such as Fire Extinguishers, Wet and Dry Risers and Domestic/Commercial sprinkler systems. Midland Fire Security Services works with its specialist subcontractors to deliver project elements and provide a seamless service.

A Bespoke Approach to a Diverse Property Portfolio
The diverse and extensive property portfolio included in the contract’s remit encompasses high-rise apartment blocks and domestic properties, including those converted into multiple flats and HMOs (Homes of Multiple Occupancy) along with individually rented flats, social housing, and warden-assisted independent living accommodation.

Each property requires the team at Midland Fire to take a bespoke approach, tailoring the design solution and regulatory requirements to each property’s specific needs. Warden-assisted independent housing at Townsend Court, Ogden Court, Aspinall Court, and Naburn Court in Nottingham are among the most recent to benefit from the sustainable upgrades as part of the council’s MHIL property enhancement project.

Following a thorough assessment, a robust bespoke fire safety solution is created to provide fire prevention and protection for each property.

Thomas Sleath, Business Development Manager at Midland Fire Security Services, said: “As Nottingham City Council Housing Services’ fire safety provider, we have enjoyed working to protect and secure their extensive property portfolio across Nottingham City and Nottingham County. We have a bespoke approach to fire safety solutions, assessing each building individually to ensure the optimum system is in place based on the property’s requirements.”

Paul Ruston, Head of Technical Services, Nottingham City Council Housing Services, said: “Midland Fire was selected as our new contract provider due to their thorough, straightforward approach, quality service, and value.”

Contract Management and 24/7 Call Out Assistance
Peace of mind is at the heart of Midland Fire Security Services’ approach to contract management. The team take the lead with monthly meetings, regular contract performance reviews and a senior-level account manager overseeing the ongoing project’s performance. This is teamed with dedicated administrators and an experienced engineering team led by Senior Engineer, Jamie Wroughton to manage the day-to-day operations and contract fulfilment, with the team on standby around the clock in case emergency assistance is required.

Proven, Innovative Technology and Specialist Range of Systems
With 25 years of experience in the industry, Midland Fire has in-depth knowledge of building fire safety requirements, providing and maintaining the best quality products and systems, teamed with the latest technology to meet the specific requirements of a project.

The trusted team work with a range of high-quality brands and products to deliver a range of high-end fire alarm systems. Brands include Ziton, Advanced/Apollo, Hochiki, Fike, Kentec, Aiicoo and Gent. Recently completed projects include a full fire alarm system replacement to BS5839-1:2017 to category L1/L2 standards with additional LD2 coverage.

The AICO 3000 Series and Smartlink Gateway product range is a staple in many residential properties, HMOs, and as part of other housing fire safety solutions offering simple yet intelligent property coverage. The advanced technology of the AICO 3000 Series range detects both fire and carbon monoxide (CO), ensuring full protection for residents.

This can be teamed with SmartLINK wireless interconnection and their data monitoring module links the 3000 Series alarms, so when one alarm is triggered, all others in the building sound to alert other residents. This provides essential early warning protection and includes AudioLINK technology sending real-time local data directly to the management system to monitor any alerts from early detection through to a safe resolution.

Nimbus from FireMate monitoring is an integral part of the management of the contract. It offers property managers and fire maintenance professionals a single view of the life-saving systems. The solution provides the ability to fully control and monitor every alarm in your property portfolio and see all information relating to each alarm in real-time via a desktop or mobile internet connection. Nimbus Fire Mate is a cloud-based APP that sends live data, updates, and alerts directly to your phone for peace of mind around the clock.

Jamie Wroughton, Lead Engineer with Midland Fire Security Services, said: “We’re really pleased to have secured this significant contract and have soon got to grips with the wide variety of systems and buildings. The close collaboration between ourselves, Nottingham City Homes, and the tenants has been instrumental in ensuring a good start and a strong working relationship. We’re committed to delivering a quality service and enhancing fire safety for all involved.”
