Law firm Flint Bishop has announced the appointment of Joel Nixon as corporate finance partner at its Birmingham office.

Joining from Browne Jacobson, Nixon has a wealth of experience advising clients in the private, third and public sector across a variety of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations, and joint ventures, as well as commercial contracting and projects.

He has a notable specialism in the health and social care sector; in particular, acting for a range of operators across residential care, supported living, domiciliary care, healthtech, dental, pharmacy, ophthalmology and physiotherapy.

Prior to joining Browne Jacobson, he worked within the General Counsel function of the Parabis Group (former home of professional services businesses such as Plexus Law, Greenwoods Solicitors and Argent Rehabilitation), acting internally on the Group’s eventual pre-pack administration and disposal to various acquirers in the market.

Nixon is the eighth partner appointment Flint Bishop has made in the Midlands over the last 12 months, and the third lateral hire into the corporate finance team that has been put in place to serve the region.

He said: “I’m delighted to be joining Flint Bishop at an exciting period of growth for both the corporate team and the Birmingham office. I am really looking forward to playing my part in the project in such a competitive region, coupled with the ambitious plans of the firm moving forward more generally, and cannot wait to get started.”

Martyn Brierley, head of corporate finance at Flint Bishop said: “With a strong reputation as an experienced corporate lawyer in the West Midlands, Joel will be instrumental in establishing and growing our mergers and acquisitions capability from the Birmingham office and further developing our commercial presence in the Midlands.”
