A loyal customer was the focus of attention when she officially launched a new-look opticians in Birmingham city centre.
Rita Begum performed the honours at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care on Corporation Street and received a gift voucher and flowers as a thank you.
The assistant accountant, who lives in Edgbaston, said: “I was surprised and honoured to do it. I have been a customer for more than 20 years and have got to know the staff. They go out of their way to help me.
“It feels like home and I have taken my mother, who is in her late 70s, there as well,” added Rita.
Branch manager Assan Drammeh said: “We relocated a short distance from our previous store in Corporation Street and we wanted to mark its opening in style. Rita has entrusted her eye care to us for a long time. She is a popular and friendly lady and was the ideal choice to launch it.”
New services include an OCT machine to provide scans to aid earlier diagnosis of eye health conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
The investment has increased the number of screening and pre-screening rooms and all are more accessible on the ground floor. There is also a new and updated range of frames, including the latest designer names.
