Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP has moved into its new flagship office in Birmingham, to provide the Midlands business community with specialist, sustainable, and community-oriented support.

The firm has signed a 10-year lease on the 17th floor of 103 Colmore Row and held a launch event to celebrate the move on Thursday 28th April. The 26-storey Birmingham building is the tallest office development in the UK outside London.

Grant Thornton’s new Midlands’ headquarters will provide 400 members of staff with a versatile and agile working environment located at the centre of Birmingham’s business community.

Part of the low-carbon Birmingham District Energy Scheme (BDES), 103 Colmore Row’s green credentials align with Grant Thornton’s objective of minimising its environmental footprint at a local level.

The office fit-out has been carefully designed with the needs of the team in mind and with the latest technology to enable flexible working and collaboration, as the firm recognises the important role the office plays in its hybrid-working model.

The new open-plan space ensures that employees and clients are provided with the optimum working environment. The recently opened office offers a range of diverse, high quality working areas including both standing and seated desks, collaboration spaces and private booths with advanced audio-visual equipment and superior acoustics.

103 Colmore Row’s design reflects Grant Thornton’s culture of respect, equality, support, understanding and flexibility. It includes a wellness area, several soundproofed booths, technology-enabled meeting rooms, as well as a members’ club, panoramic roof terrace and restaurant.

Located at the heart of Birmingham’s Business District, 103 Colmore Row provides more than 230,000 sq. ft. of workspace – just over 12,000 sq. ft. of which is for Grant Thornton’s new office.

Sue Knight, Partner and Practice Leader at Grant Thornton UK LLP in the Midlands, said: “The last two years have had a fundamental impact on how we perceive the ways we work. At Grant Thornton, we understand that the office is still an important part of any effective flexible working model, as it’s pivotal for collaborating both internally and externally as well as helping to drive and nurture the careers of our team members.

“This move not only signals our promise to provide the very best working environment, with an office designed to reflect the needs of our people and teams, but it also exemplifies our commitment to Birmingham’s vibrant business landscape.

“The Midlands is a hive of entrepreneurial businesses and being located close to so many of them in our new office makes it a really exciting space to be in. The whole team is looking forward to utilising this new office to connect in ever more innovative and supportive ways with the region’s firms in order to help them achieve their ambitions.”
