Adventurous fundraisers are being sought to climb a London landmark in aid of a West Midlands charity.
Smile for Joel is searching for individuals to sign up to climb the 52m O2 Arena in May.
The charity was formed by Suzy Evans and her son Owen after the 2015 Tunisian terror attack, where three members of of their family were killed.
Smile for Joel provides support for families affected by murder and terrorism and raises awareness for safe travel abroad – recently through its official partnership with the government Travel Aware scheme – as well as supporting the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy.
Climb for Joel takes place on Saturday, May 13, where those who make the 156ft ascent will be greeted with a 360-degree view of London including Greenwich, the Olympic Park, and Canary Wharf.
Suzy said: “This is a great new opportunity to raise all-important funds. Not only will those who climb with us be helping to do great things for people who have gone through some really difficult times, but they will also experience a view of London and a feeling not quite like anything else.”
Money raised will go towards time-out for families who are victims of bereavement, counselling, and gift buying for those in need.
All the necessary equipment such as jackets, boots, and harnesses will be provided, alongside a guide to take everyone through each step.
It’s open to those over eight years old, and there is a £100 minimum fundraising amount.
