World Cup winning rugby legends Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood are teaming up to help raise cash for a leading charity.
The duo are the star attractions at a fundraising clay shooting day being staged at the prestigious Royal Berkshire Shooting School to raise money for the Get A-Head charity.
A similar event last year raised £30,000 for the Birmingham-based charity, which helps people suffering from neck and head diseases and cancers, and also funds vital research.
This year’s event, on June 22, will feature teams of four taking part in a day of shooting and entertainment, with Dallaglio and Greenwood at the centre of proceedings.
The day will include breakfast, lunch, an auction and raffle and drinks reception, and places for new teams and sponsorship opportunities are still open.
Tom Bromwich, chairman of the Get A-Head trustees, said the event had been a huge success last year and looked on target to be even better this time round.
“We are incredibly grateful to both Lawrence and Will for taking the time to support the event and to Steve Dixon of The Do Club for organising such a wonderful day. It promises to have something for everybody, with the added bonus of money for such a good cause.
“Electrical experts CEF have kindly agreed to sponsor the event, as they did 12 months ago, and if we can raise anything like the amount we did last year then we will be absolutely delighted.”
Get A-Head has raised £10million to fight head and neck disease since it was established in 1994 and funded a range of projects and equipment that have made a real difference to those fighting head and neck disease.
The charity has supported an Accelerated Cancer Drug treatment programme which aims to speed up treatment by matching existing drugs and also purchased life-changing equipment for patients who have lost their voice through cancer.
Both Dallaglio and Greenwood were members of England’s historic World Cup winning team in 2003 and have since gone on to become highly-respected broadcasters on rugby for BT Sport and Sky respectively.
Former England skipper Dallaglio – who represented both the Lions and Wasps during a hugely-successful career – is also founder of the Dallaglio Rugby Works.
As well as being part of England’s World Cup winning team 20 years ago, Greenwood toured with the Lions on three occasions and represented Leicester and Harlequins.
Tom, founding partner of Coventry-based commercial property agency Bromwich Hardy, said teams were still being invited to enter, but spaces were filling up fast.
“These events are always hugely popular and I would urge anyone interested to get in touch with Steve and the Do Club as quickly as possible.”
