A family fun day at a Birmingham hotel has helped to raise more than £1,000 for a charity which supports good causes, volunteer-led initiatives and projects across the second city.
The sun shone as hundreds of visitors flocked to the grounds of the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre to enjoy their first event with charity partner LoveBrum.
Chefs from the four-star hotel rustled up tasty treats for a BBQ, while the action-packed day also included free children’s activities including a magician, stilt walkers and face painters.
Other highlights included a bouncy castle and toddlers soft play, as well as inflatables and giant games provided by Warwickshire-based Bright Vision Expectational Events.
The Wellbeing Community Choir – which promotes and maintains good mental and physical health through singing – and Bellagio Dance Group – who performed as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Victoria Square in the city centre – provided entertainment.
Richard Metcalfe, Chief Executive Officer at Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, which is part of the University of Birmingham Group, said: “This was a fantastic first event as part of our new charity partnership with LoveBrum.
“We had sunshine, fabulous food, and exceptional entertainment, and most of all plenty of smiling faces to help raise funds for LoveBrum and their work in our city.”
The funds raised for LoveBrum will be distributed to hidden-gem projects and volunteer-led organisations doing fantastic things in Birmingham.
Kathryn Simkiss, Head of Operations at LoveBrum, said: “The day was incredible! Having two of our previous funded causes being able to entertain us on the day was really heart-warming to see.
“The staff at the hotel made the day a complete success and it was lovely to see families enjoying some fun time together.
“Events like these are really important for our work so thank you to everybody who showed their support.”
