YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark has launched its new membership packages for an incredible range of social, community, health and fitness facilities for all ages, all under one roof.
Youth membership for 11-17 year-olds includes daily access to a variety of extracurricular activities across sports, creative, adventure and social pursuits designed for young people and led by expert role models. Sessions include everything from archery to homework help, alongside cinema clubs, games spaces and coaching in the industry-leading climbing centre.
Villager membership grants unlimited access to the full suite of activities and facilities, including the strength and conditioning gym, fitness classes, indoor and outdoor areas, the climbing centre and a packed social calendar. It also includes creative and social activities such as performing arts, IT tuition for older users, games clubs and cookery classes.
Todd Cauthorn, Executive Director at YMCA Newark & Sherwood, said: “There is something for everyone here at the Village, whatever age you are and whatever interest you have. It really is a unique place, where you can socialise, learn new skills and boost your health through a rich suite of activities that support your mind, body and spirit. Villager membership allows you to get the most out of the facilities, but you can also choose to pay-as-you-go.
“Everything we do at the YMCA is designed to support the development of young people and the wider community. The Village is a place for children, young people and the community to belong and we have designed a vibrant timetable that is packed with experience and opportunities for personal growth, led by supportive people who are dedicated to making life better for people of all ages and abilities.
“Membership to the Village not only brings incredible benefits for your personal mental and physical wellbeing, but it also means you are helping us to fulfil our mission as a charity. The vital funds raised by Supporter and Villager members will allow us to continue giving all young people a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.”
Villager membership costs £40 per month for adults and people aged 11-17, and £36 per month for concessions. Supporter membership is available for just £15 per year, which unlocks access to reduced rates for individual class bookings and the option to upgrade to Villager membership at any time. All members can enjoy a 10% discount in the on-site cafe, which specialises in locally sourced and seasonal food and drink.
Family packages are available and, when buying membership as a household, Villager members gain free access to special member rates for children under 11 years old, who can enjoy bespoke activities and classes such as Clip n Climb, creative academy sessions and sports.
Non-members can also benefit from a full programme of classes and activities available on a pay-per-session basis, with prices starting at £5 for daytime community sessions.
YMCA Newark & Sherwood is a not-for-profit, local charity, enabling members to give back to the range of programmes and services that support children and vulnerable adults across the region.
The YMCA Community & Activity Village opened in Summer 2022 and has since welcomed thousands of visitors to its cafe, on-site nursery, business spaces, gym, football pitches and fitness spaces. Its climbing centre opened in January 2023, offering a unique space for both beginners and professional climbers to hone their skills.
