A housekeeper at a Leicester residential home which cares for adults with learning disabilities has been nominated for an award at the East Midlands Care Home awards.

Tina Buckby, Housekeeper at Toller Road residential home, has been shortlisted in the category for Supporting Team Member of the Year. Toller Road is an 8 bed specialist residential service run by Cygnet Health Care with nursing, supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those with mental health or physical health needs.

Tina has worked at Toller Road since it opened 10 years ago. She had no idea about the nomination by her the Deputy Manager until it was revealed this week.

Speaking about her nomination, Cate Ball, Regional Manager for Cygnet’s Social Care services in the Midlands said: “We are delighted that Tina has been nominated for this award as she really deserves this recognition. Tina brightens up the home and brings smiles to everyone’s faces, especially our residents who she always makes time for. She goes above and beyond her role and is a fantastic example of what a team player looks like.

“She is a truly caring and incredibly fun person – every care home needs their own Tina! We are proud to work alongside her and wish her the best of luck on the day. Whatever the outcome, Tina is a winner at Toller Road.”

Tina is one of three people to be shortlisted for the award and the winner will be announced as part of the Connecting Together: Care Home Celebration Event, organised by the East Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative and The AHSN Network at the Trent Vineyard Conferencing Centre.
