Businessman Elliott Robinson is hoping for a huge outpouring of support for the West Midlands’ largest charity beer and cider festival which returns for the first time in two years.
Shirley Beer and Cider Festival, which raises thousands of pounds for local good causes, is still hoping to attract additional sponsors after the annual event was last held in 2019 due to Covid restrictions.
Elliott, who runs oven valeting service Ovenu Solihull, said: “It’s great to see the return of this community event and it’s important that individuals and businesses get behind it to ensure it’s a huge success after an enforced layoff.
“I appreciate it has been a challenging time for everyone over the past 24 months but this festival, which is one of the highlights of the year, deserves huge support.”
Organised by Shirley Round Table and Ladies Circle, the festival opens with a comedy night, featuring Jay Handley, Chloe Petts, Travis Jay, and Simon Brodkin, on the evening of Thursday 12th May.
Held at Camp Hill Rugby Club, just off Haslucks Green Road, Shirley, the festival continues on 13th and 14th May and features 90 cask beers, 10 keg beers and 25 ciders, together with a range of food, live music and children’s entertainment. Half the tickets for the opening comedy night have already been sold.
A host of sponsorship opportunities including bar banners, glass branding, programme advertising and barrel sponsorship are available.
Elliott, who is sponsoring a barrel and is advertising in the festival programme, said: “As a local business, I’m proud to make a contribution, no matter how modest, to ensure this festival raises as much money for charity as possible.”
A spokesperson for the festival said: “It’s great to be back after two years and we are determined to make this year’s festival the biggest and best yet. I would appeal to both individuals and local businesses to consider supporting us through sponsorship, which is crucial to the successful running of what is a fantastic and very ‘hoppy’ community event.
