STOKE law firm Smith Partnership has agreed a season-long sponsorship with local rugby side Stoke on Trent RUFC – and will support the club across all teams.

The partnership underlines a shared commitment to grassroots sport and the local community as the city marks its centenary year.

The backing will help the club continue developing playing opportunities for all ages and abilities, strengthening the pathway from minis and juniors through to senior rugby.

That includes supporting the ongoing growth of the women’s game at Stoke on Trent RUFC, where the Stoke Sirens have become an integral part of the club’s future on and off the field.

Rachel Bailey, captain of the Stoke Sirens, said: “It’s such a privilege to be captain of the Stoke Sirens this year. The team has been working so hard, so it’s amazing to see how far women’s rugby is coming. A massive thank you to Smith Partnership for backing the club, your support means so much and really helps us keep building the game we love.”

Davina Charlton, who both plays for the Sirens and is a Senior Associate at Smith Partnership, added: “Smith Partnership have recently relocated their Stoke on Trent office to Hanley in the heart of the city centre and I just think it’s great that we’re showing our support of Stoke on Trent, the local area and the rugby club. It’s a pleasure to be part of both sides and be involved with the local community.”

The Sirens’ contribution to local life has been especially visible this year. Members of the squad volunteered in the Stoke-on-Trent People’s Parade on 7 June, celebrating the city’s 100th birthday.

On 30 August some of the team volunteered at the Rugby World Cup, serving as on-pitch flag bearers for Canada vs Wales and Fiji vs Scotland. The Sirens have also started their league campaign strongly, winning their opening fixture on Sunday 37–14 against Newcastle.

Stoke on Trent RUFC is a community-focused rugby club offering competitive and social rugby for women, men, and a thriving junior’s section. The club provides a positive environment for players, families and supporters, with development at every level of the game.
