Breast cancer fundraiser Big Girl Pants, has presented a staggering donation of £24,010 to the NHS University Hospitals of the North Midlands (UHNM) Charity Breast Care Centre, significantly supporting the creation of a pioneering new Breast Care Unit at County Hospital Stafford.

Following a year teeming with activities organised by Big Girl Pants, including sponsored fitness challenges and a glittering charity ball, the significant amount raised has been donated directly to the Breast Care teams at the UHNM. In recognition of their valued work, the vital funds will further enable the teams to continue supporting and caring for current and future patients and their families, also contributing to new state-of-the-art facilities.

Big Girl Pants, propelled by Staffordshire-based business consultancy Strategi Solutions, was formed last year as three close relatives of the team received a breast cancer diagnosis between October 2022 and February 2023, all of whom were treated at the UHNM Breast Care Centres. Strategi Solutions’ talented in-house design team developed the eye-catching Big Girl Pants branding to launch the fundraiser and continue to deliver additional creative and design work to support the campaign.

Hot on the heels of a highly successful 2023, Big Girl Pants has now launched its 2024 fundraising drive. The fundraiser is calling out to members of the community and local businesses to get involved, striving to create a jam-packed schedule of events throughout the year in the build-up to its charity ball. Held on Friday 4 October with tables now on sale, the highly-anticipated event will take place at the Double Tree Hilton, Festival Park. Throughout the evening, there will be entertainment from the well-established 9-piece house music band and DJ, The Manytones, as well as a delectable three-course meal and a series of raffles and auctions.

Wendy Dean, CEO of Strategi Solutions comments: “Our first year of fundraising for Big Girl Pants was a huge success and we are incredibly proud of the momentous amount raised for this very worthy cause. The work undertaken by the UHNM Charity and the Breast Care Teams is incredibly important and valued by many families across the region, and we’re keen to continue offering as much support as we can.

“When Sue Fisher (Wife of Rob Fisher, Managing Director at Strategi Solutions) attended her latest appointment with the Breast Care Team, they pointed her in the direction of the Big Girl Pants website for information and support, and it is both positive and rewarding the learn that our endeavours are being recognised. It was also an honour to meet with Sue’s consultant Sadaf Jafferbhoy, who attended the recent cheque presentation.”

Strategi Solutions is encouraging those, both male and female, who are currently going through treatment or have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer at the Royal Stoke or County Hospital Stafford to share their story with Big Girl Pants.
