Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH), who became a new hospital group last month, are seeking nurses and midwives to join their award-winning workforce.

The hospitals are both a centre of excellence for nursing and midwifery, offering unparalleled training and career development and the opportunity for awards and recognition for their work.

At KGH, midwives Tia Diver and Jodie Guyver and staff nurse Donna Fahy recently received DAISY awards[i] for the outstanding, compassionate, and sensitive care they have given to patients. The DAISY Award is an international programme that honours and celebrates the exceptional care nurses and midwives provide.

At NGH, midwives Anne Richely and Claire Dale have been shortlisted for the Royal College of Midwives -RCM 2021 award for excellence in maternity care during the COVID-19 pandemic[ii] and midwife, Fatima Ghouch for the RCM 2021 Race Matters Award[iii]. These awards are a unique celebration of the profession’s best and brightest talent. Winners will be announced in October.

Currently, there are several midwifery and nursing opportunities at the hospital group, where nurses and midwives can expect excellent training and development, and clear career progression pathways, plus the chance to be part of this exciting new chapter for both hospitals.

 

  • KGH are looking for an Audit Midwife to lead and undertake various audits within maternity services whilst being responsive and proactive in identifying themes requiring prompt audit and development of action plans. The salary range is £32,306 to £39,027 per annum and the closing date is 30 August.

 

  • KGH is also seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work in the clinical operations team as a transfer nurse supporting the safe transfer and movement of patients through the hospital. The salary range is £24,907 to £30,615 a year and the closing date is 31 August.

 

  • NGH is looking to recruit a Band 8a Matron for Maternity Services, Community & Outpatients with a broad range of midwifery experience and exceptional clinical ability. The salary range is £47,126 to £53,219 a year and the closing date is 30 August.

 

  • NGH is also looking to recruit a Band 7 Midwifery Manager responsible for the smooth day to day running of the hospital’s Maternity Day Unit. The salary range is £40,057 to £45,839 a year and the closing date is 30 August.

 

The Northamptonshire hospitals lead the way in training. NGH was the first hospital in the UK to launch ‘The Pathway to Excellence® programme’, a framework for nursing and midwifery excellence, which aims to create a positive practice environment for staff and improves nurse satisfaction, recruitment and retention.

Both hospitals have an active professional development team responsible for the education of the nurses and midwives, as well as scheme called PLAN, which they are running in partnership with the University of Northampton. They also support clinical academic careers and are part of an innovative nursing and midwifery faculty at Nottingham University teaching hospital.

Both hospitals are part of the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ recruitment campaign. The campaign brings together the University of Northampton, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital (KGH), St Andrew’s Healthcare and Northants GP and aims to recruit nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals to live and work in Northamptonshire.
